“It’s tremendous! I’ve been worried about her, but she keeps coming back strong,” said Eva’s former daughter-in-law Linda Taylor. “Strong-willed. She’s endured a lot.”
Eva’s been a fighter her entire life.
“She’s lost both children, both husbands, her sisters, her parents, grandparents,” Linda said.
“Believe you me, I’ve been through some hard times, but I’ve weathered the storm, and did the best that I knew how,” Eva said.
But Eva’s pride and joy is her family – three grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. Her entire life, Eva has cared for her family. She and her husband Clarence owned Mason’s IGA, and she even spent years making quilts by hand as well as ceramics and homemade candy during the holidays.
Eva has always been a woman of many talents and a mother figure to so many.
“My Mom’s gone, but Eva and I have been together for 60 years now, so she’s my mom,” Linda said.
To make Eva’s 103rd birthday extra special, loved ones, strangers, and even a local news crew are sending her birthday cards! The goal is for Eva to savor the sweetness of this upcoming birthday with as many cards as possible!
Anyone who wants to celebrate Eva can send a card addressed to her at Meadowbrook Acres Nursing Home.
