CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) – The West Virginia National Guard hosted the second annual Military Spouse Appreciation Day at the West Virginia Culture Center Friday.
The men and women who are the backbone to our service members were honored for their unwavering strength and their own service and sacrifice to our country. So often, military spouses can be in the shadows, but the event puts a spotlight of gratitude and appreciation on them.

“A good many of our spouses across the state are very active in their communities and for that contribution, we wanted to say thank you because they make the overall service work, and we say this at every event – every member that speaks at a recognition ceremony, a promotion ceremony, or just dining out, they talk about how they couldn’t do it without their spouses and the support they get from them,” said Mrs. J. Crane, wife of Maj. Gen. William Crane, Adjt. Gen. WVNG.
Twenty military couples attended the event along with U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito.
